Conditioning Day 15…4 hours, Espada Y Daga, and hitting a wall

4 hours of training today on day 15. I am exhausted. I hit a wall. Not a plateau, nor do I feel like I hit an over training hurdle. I just hit a wall like Wile E Coyote hits the ground after falling off the cliff. Like a Mac Truck hit me. I know that for your body to adapt you must hit these walls/hurdles and keep going, so that is what I did. I got in 20 rounds of training.

Yup that is what it felt like. But I had to keep pushing through.

I started out with a 1 mile run. It was not great timing wise. It was a 13.33 minute mile… it was also 93 degrees out.

I cam back in and did kicking rounds.

  1. Power kicking rounds. 1 to two kicks per side for the entirety of the round.
  2. Speed kicking rounds. Power is taken out, and technique is focused on. Pyramid kicks from 1 kick, 2 kicks, 3 kicks, 4 kicks, 5 kicks, 6 kicks, 5 kicks, 4 kicks, 3 kicks, 2 kicks, 1 kick. All in succession.
  3. Speed and Power kicking rounds mixed together.

I did 4 bag rounds of 3 minutes each with a 30 second burn out.

I also working on rounds of boxing. Jab, Cross, Upper cut, Upper cut, body hook, body hook.

Muay Thai Class

Then we had Thai class. We warmed up with jump rope, then we did clench work to warm up.

Kru Kristen had us then work on punches transitioning to elbows, to knees. I got to work with Kru Krysta so we could both work on our conditioning for Thai Camp. As we are both going. Yay!

Each round ended with an elbow flurry blitz.

Kali – Espada y Daga

Then came Kali class, the 4th hour. My brain had stopped braining. My body was just tired, but I kept working at the drills. We worked on Gunting (scissor) five count. With double stick, Espada y Daga, and with single knife. We worked on pass, cut and disarm.

I know this is not super detailed but I am exhausted, need to shower and get to bed. I hope you all have a great day/night when ever you get to read this. Keep being awesome and working to be the best you can be.

Conditioning Day 9… 9 of 22 A mile and 12 rounds alone

Knees in the morning!

1 hours and 30 minutes Conditioning day 9. I ran 1 mile this morning, and then worked 12 x 3 minute rounds. I intended this blog to write about the good and the bad on my fitness journey. I am doing so, even though I worry it will bother some. I hope it will help others who feel the same.

Reflection on Yesterday’s Feelings

Now that I have slept, gotten up, done a workout, and eaten breakfast. I can contemplate yesterday, and how I was feeling. When I am having a lack luster day, not wanting to do my workout. Tired and annoyed. I get into my head. I worry that I am just a joke to almost everyone. That when I am practicing, I see all my faults, and how ridiculous I look. I think everyone else can see that. I start thinking. Why did I decide to go to this camp. I am going to fail and look stupid.

I have been regularly waffling from so much excitement and anticipation, to oh my God what have I done. I am crazy for trying to get ready in such a short time.

Days like yesterday, a third feeling is added to the mix. I am just a joke and ridiculous. What am I even doing here? I don’t look like everyone else. I make so many mistakes. Am I even improving?

I know I am getting into my own head, and worrying about things. I know some of these feelings are fleeting, but it is hard to get out of your own head and keep pushing on. I have done, and will do just that.

Anyway… onward to better things, and my training that I did today.

I filmed two of my bag rounds to see how I was doing and to review in the future.

If you are still reading, thanks for reading. I hope you have a fantastic day. Keep being awesome!

Weight lifting workout for the week of 6/10/2019… Great Day

50 min weight lifting workout

I had plenty of time today. The only thing that was hindering me today, was how tired I was. Yesterday we went on a 3 mile hike. It was wonderful. We hiked through the forest to a small beach, then we hiked back. That hike was so relaxing and the beach was amazing. Just what I needed after a really crazy, and this next week is going to be nuts.

workout:

  • 20 min HIIT run
    • 3 min warm up, 5 min HIIT (Run sprint 1 minute, Run 1 minute), 1 min walk, 4 min HIIT, 5 min run steady state, 2 min cool down

Do these next 4 exercises in a superset (superset, means do both exercises back to back with no rest, 30 minute rest between each two sets)
  • Tripod tricep row 35 lbs, reps-12 left, 12 right, 12 left, 12 right, 12 left 12 right
  • Reverse double leg pike crunch reps- 20, 20, 20
  • Bulgarian Split Squats reps- 15 left, 15 right, 15 left, 15 right, 15 left, 15 right,
  • Squat and press 20 lb each hand, reps- 8, 10, 10
  • Good mornings 65 lbs, reps- 10, 10, 10
  • Dead Lifts 115 lbs, reps- 8, 8,

This was a great workout, and I am happy I did it. I can already feel it, I am going to be sore tomorrow.

If you try this workout let me know what you think. Thank you for reading. Have a great day! I have to go to work now. =)

Workout Deviation… There’s more of hummus, than of ill humors about me.

I debated posting this to my blog. I like to be uplifting and helpful. But I like to be completely honest about my feelings, and how even though I workout 5 to 6 days a week I still have bad days.

Workout: 35 minute run and core workout

Do you ever feel like a… your a joke to others? I take pictures to keep video/picture history of my progress. But end up taking 100 pictures to just to get one I don’t hate. I have had people ideate in the past that I am vain and just want to show off. But that could not be further from the point. It often makes me feel like I should just stop sharing. Oh boy and some days I just want to delete the videos because who boy are they horrible. Or at least I think I look horrible.

I don’t know if this ill humor is cause I did not sleep well, or if I am spoiling for aunt flow’s visit. If I may adopt quote “blot of mustard, crumb of cheese, fragment of underdone potato,” there’s more of hummus than of ill humors about me. =P Well that amused me a little.

But I am having one of those days were I just did not want to do my workout because I felt like it was or I was a joke, it was not getting me anywhere, and every picture I took of me I hated.

Here was what I did if you are interested:
1) 20 minute stead state run
2) Pike crunches reps – 20, 16, 16
3) Bicycle crunches reps – 20, 20, 20
4) Dead Bugs 3 reps of 40 seconds

I workout 5 to six days a week, but these are the feelings I still deal with. I did not do the workout I had set up for my week, but I did do something, and got some core in so that is good.

I hope this does not bring you all down. Keep being awesome and striving to be a better you. Thanks for reading.

Weight Lifting workout for the week of 6/3/2019…When you run out of time, you run

I did not have time to do more than just my 15 minute run today. I was so busy, I worked on my recipes and scaling them up for an event that I am catering for a little over 200 people. So I got in what I could.

Here is the workout I plan on doing for this week. It was supposed to be for today, but will be for Wednesday and Friday.

Workout:

15 minute steady state run

  1. 2 minute warm up
  2. 11 minute run, steady state
  3. 2 minute cool down

Weight lifting:

  1. Tripod Tricep Row 3 rounds of 10 each side
  2. Burpees as many as you can for 1 minute, 3 rounds
  3. Dead bugs 1 minute for a total of 3 rounds
  4. Reverse lunge with bicep curls 10lbs each hand, total or 3 rounds of 10 each side.
  5. Goblet squat with 35lbs, 3 rounds of 10 -15
  6. Good mornings 45lb barbell, 3 rounds of 10

Even though I did not get a chance to do my weight lifting. I am happy I got a run in. I had a totall 20 minutes I could squeeze in a workout between my work, and going to pick up my husband at the metro.

I firmly believe, even if you can’t do the whole workout you want to do, getting something in is better than saying, “ahh well, I can’t do it today.”

I felt good today so I took pictures of my progress.

Anyway thank you for reading. Have a wonderful productive day, and keep working at making yourself the best you that you can be.
